Where this came from
CalcBold began as a set of free calculators built around one observation: the thing that stops most home purchases is not price, it is uncertainty about size. Will this rug swallow the room. Is a 6-quart pot too much for two people. How many sets of sheets does a household actually need. Those questions have real answers, and a calculator gives them in seconds.
The store is the obvious next step. Once a calculator tells you the answer is an 8 by 10 rug, the least useful thing it can do is leave you to go find one.
How we pick products
We stock a small edit across 4 departments rather than an endless catalog. A product earns a place only if it clears three tests: it solves a specific everyday problem, it survives repeated real use rather than one photogenic season, and it can be sized correctly before you buy. If a category cannot be sized with confidence, we build the calculator before we list the product.
That last rule is the whole point. It is why the rug page has a rug sizing tool next to it and the cookware pages have a capacity matcher — not as marketing, but because the most common reason a good product disappoints is that it was the wrong size for the room or the household.
What we do not do
- No fake countdown timers, no invented “3 people are viewing this” badges. If something is discounted, the original price is a price it was genuinely sold at.
- No paid placement. Nothing gets ranked higher on a category page because a supplier paid for it.
- No dark patterns at checkout. No pre-ticked add-ons, no account you have to create, no newsletter you have to un-tick.
The promises attached to that
Free US shipping over the threshold, 30-day free returns with a prepaid label, and a 12-month defect warranty. Payments run through Stripe, so card details never touch our servers. The shipping and returns pages spell out the edge cases rather than burying them.
Who runs it
A small team, operating CalcBold as an independent home and kitchen store. The calculators stay free and unrestricted whether or not you ever buy anything — they were useful before there was a store and they should stay that way. If something here is wrong, unclear, or badly designed, tell us directly. We read all of it.
